C-TAC launches its Policy Maker Story Initiative
Senators Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) share their policy views and caregiving experiences in a short, powerful video clip kicking off C-TAC’s story collection initiative. Research suggests that sharing personal stories is an important strategy to influence and inspire people to undertake the difficult but necessary discussions with their families, care givers and health providers regarding advanced illness care.
Later this year we will launch our consumer website, CareJourney.org, focused on four key topics: Care Options, Spirituality, Caregiving and Financial Options. In will also feature personal stories of individuals from all walks of life to engage people facing serious illness and assure them that they are not alone. As part of that effort, we are honored to include personal stories from policy makers and feature them on CareJourney.org. It could be a story about a serious illness of a family member or colleague or friend and the health system experience that was involved.
We believe the voices of national leaders will inspire others. Their story and those of other policy makers will help people share their experiences, recognize the importance of having open discussions about serious illness and build awareness and action regarding advanced illness care issues.
